Gonzalo Arijon, Episode Director

Gonzalo Arijon is a multi-award winning Uruguayan director based in Paris. He worked with the French news agencies Sygma, Gamma, Capa and Point du Jour, covering human stories on five continents. His documentary work includes: territories in conflict (The World According to My Brother about Colombian guerrillas; AStreet Under Siege in Sarajevo, winner of 1994 BAFTA Award; and Somalia: the Price of Spilling Blood), isolated tribes (The Furor of the MassaÏ Volcano; Matis, the Call of the Ancestors; and Kampere, the Last Shaman Hourani in Amazonia), issues of memory and justice (For These Eyes, Grand Prize at Monte Carlo Film Festival), and Latin American politics (Cuba Si, Cuba No; Lula: Managing a Dream; and Eyes Wide Open). Gonzalo transformed the account of a Uruguayan airplane accident in the Andes into an intimate feature docudrama: Stranded won many awards including the Joris Ivens Award (IDFA), Black Pearl Award at Abu Dhabi festival and was a Sundance official selection.
